Denture Stabilisation

Dentures are artificial, removable teeth that are used in the event of tooth loss. From time to time, however, dentures can become unstable, often causing discomfort during daily activities such as eating and speaking.

About denture stabilisation

Dentures can become loose and slide, which causes a number of problems when it comes to oral functionality, e.g. eating, chewing, talking and laughing can become difficult and it can be extremely frustrating when this occurs. Denture stabilisation aims to preserve the stability of your dentures, ensuring that you no longer have to go endure discomfort and frustration as result of unstable dentures.

How does it work?

There are multiple options to stabilise loose dentures, including:

  • Adjustment of your current dentures
  • Dental implants – these can be used to stabilise both removable and fixed dentures
  • Oral surgery - We use this to enlarge the size of the palate’s edentulous ridge

Do I need denture stabilisation treatment?

If you are experiencing any of these issues whilst wearing your dentures, you may require dental stabilisation:

  • Bone tissue and bone shrinkage (which, over time, causes the dentures to loosen)
  • Gum irritation and general oral discomfort
  • Difficulty speaking and chewing food
  • Discomfort in the mouth due to dentures that are not fitted properly

Benefits of denture stabilisation

Denture stabilisation can boost your confidence, provide greater comfort and improved function when eating, speaking and laughing. Another very important benefit to denture stabilisation is that it prevents bone loss, which can have an impact on both your oral function and facial expression and structure.
